Designing

tomorrow

I have spent twenty years inside the worlds that shape brands and businesses. Creative agencies. Consultancies. Technology companies. Each one great at one thing. Expression. Strategy. Systems. But the companies that win bring all three together. That is what Vorsprung does. I design a venture from challenge to brand. Across product, service, business, go to market and every detail that matters.

Design, to me, is not how something looks. It is what something is. What it does. Why it exists. Form is not decoration. Form is decision. You can design a product. A service. A brand. A whole company. Design them separately and you get pieces. Design them as one and you get a venture. One idea, complete, long before anyone builds it.

The strongest ventures feel inevitable. They don't chase a market. They are what the market was waiting for. The concept, the product, the brand, the business case, the reason people will want it. Every detail pointing the same way, until the whole thing feels like it could never have been any other way.

That kind of coherence doesn't happen by accident. It happens because someone designs the company complete and makes it real enough to see, to hold, to believe in. Before a line of code. Before a euro of capital. That is the role I built Vorsprung to play. Not an agency. Not a consultancy. Not a studio. A venture design practice. From challenge to brand, and everything in between. Studios know how to build. Vorsprung knows what to build.

I called it Vorsprung, the German word for advantage, because the best ventures don't wait for the future. They design it. Vorsprung is not my name. It is my ambition.

WHAT I DESIGN. HOW YOU JOIN.

Venture design
for studios

Every studio can build. The difference is what you choose to build. I am the layer before your first gate: I design what you take on, complete, before a euro is committed. A film studio doesn't wait for an actor with a script. It greenlights the story, then casts the lead.

Venture design
for brands

For companies ready to grow beyond their own walls. Sometimes the idea is already there, waiting. Sometimes there is only the feeling that more is possible. Either way, I design it into a company that stands on its own, ready to launch, fund or spin out. Your name opens the market. The venture earns its own.

Ventures of
my own

Some ideas are too good to wait for a client. So I design them myself, the same way: product, brand and business case, complete. Ventures, ready to fund and build. What each one needs is the other half: a studio, capital, a founder. The design is finished. The opportunity is not.

Venture
Blueprint

Every Vorsprung venture ends the same way: as a complete blueprint. The research, the challenge, the product, the brand, the business; one document, designed to fund and build from. The full concept, research and business case are available on request. Interested? Let's talk.

What is,
and isn't

Who is Jo Van Grinderbeek?
Jo Van Grinderbeek is the founder of Vorsprung. He spent twenty years inside the worlds that shape brands and businesses: as Design Director Brand Experience at Wunderman Thompson/VML, with work recognized at Cannes Lions and an Epica Grand Prix; in consultancy, guiding the Belgian Ministry of Justice through its largest digital transformation in a decade; and inside Cronos Group, one of Belgium's largest technology ecosystems, where he co-founded Norden. Vorsprung is where those three worlds come together.
Is this a design agency?
No. A design agency makes things look right. Vorsprung makes things be right, from the business behind it to the form it takes in the world.
Is this a business consultancy?
No. A consultancy delivers a document. Vorsprung delivers something you can see, feel and build. The thinking and the making happen together, because that is the only way they stay honest to each other.
Is this a venture studio?
No. A studio builds ventures. Vorsprung designs them. The layer before the building starts: what each one is, why people will want it, how it makes money. Studios know how to build. Vorsprung knows what to build.
So what is it?
A venture design practice. Most ventures are born incomplete: a strong product without a brand, a good idea without a business, a plan without desire. Vorsprung designs the company as one thing, from challenge to brand, until every part is there and every part agrees.
Do you do branding?
Yes and no. Vorsprung is not a brand agency. There is no logo project, no campaign, no identity as a separate service. But everything I design has its brand built in from the first sketch, because the idea is the brand. The best brands were never designed as brands. They were designed as something people actually wanted.
Do you build or execute the final product?
No. What gets handed over is not a slide deck. It is a venture, real enough to act on, impossible to ignore. The builders come after, and they inherit something complete: one picture, nothing missing. And I stay on as its creative and strategic direction, so it stays true while it grows.
Is this only for venture studios and investors?
No. Studios and investors are a natural fit, but so is any company with a venture inside it, and any founder who needs a concept impossible to say no to. The size of the company matters less than the size of the idea.
Do you work on existing businesses or only new ideas?
Both. Sometimes the future requires something entirely new. Sometimes it requires seeing what already exists in a completely different way. The starting point is always the same: where is the world going, and what needs to exist when it gets there.
How long does an engagement take?
It depends on where you start. A concept takes shape in weeks. The full design, from challenge to business case to brand, typically runs two to four months. Some ideas take longer than others. The good ones usually do.
Can we work on just one part?
Yes. The challenge, the concept, the business case or the brand can each be engaged on their own. Most clients start with the question they cannot yet answer and build from there.
What does Vorsprung actually deliver?
Real things you can hold, show and fund. Depending on what the idea needs: the concept and its story. The product, designed and visualised. The brand, from name to feel. The business case, with the numbers behind it. The pitch, ready for investors. A prototype where it matters. Not a report about a venture. The venture itself, on the table.
Is this AI-generated work?
Yes and no. The ideas are original. The strategy is real. The specialists behind the final form, in 3D, design, code and technology, are people, not prompts. What AI does here is close the gap between thinking and proof. What used to take months now takes days. That's a faster pencil, not a different mind. It makes it possible for one person to move from ambition to something you can actually see and hold, before the specialists take it further. The work is faster. It isn't less human.

Most studios focus on how to build.
Vorsprung designs what to build.
